I created this series of watercolor studies using watercolor on cotton paper inspired by the natural sites and sounds of the summer season. This studio vlog documents my abstract watercolor process.
It's summer, and the sky is full of color and light. After a period of away from painting, I was finally ready to start a new series with the spectrum of light and color as its subject. I consider this time of year to be the season of inspiration. This studio vlog documents my painting process and the natural sights and sounds of the summer season.
Hi everyone, I know it's been a while since my last video, so I am here with a brief update on what's happened this past winter. Thank you for your patience and I look forward to making a new series of work this spring season!
The sun casts a different kind of light in winter. This studio vlog documents my abstract painting process. I created this series of artwork using acrylic paint on birch wood panels. The winter sky has inspired the colors and surfaces of these new paintings.
Each change in season introduces a new perspective on how we navigate through life. It’s now late autumn. The colors of the landscape are now soft and desaturated under the low autumn sun. This studio vlog documents my abstract painting process and some reflective thoughts on daydreaming and goal setting. I created this series of artwork using acrylic paint on birch wood panels. These pieces are now available for purchase in my online shop. alexcurleyart.com/shop

Read MoreIn this winter vlog, I spent my morning in my art studio mixing paint. I prefer the consistency of my paint to be similar to fluid acrylics, which are great for pouring, staining, and creating washes on canvas or paper. Mixing my fluid acrylics is a simple and relaxing process.
Read MoreI am so excited to release my first round of framed paintings from my “Collisions of Space” series. Each mini painting is signed, and framed with a floating mount. Check out all 10 pieces here. My work acts as a medium to explore imagined intersections of interior and exterior landscapes, presenting a new depiction of space with characteristics of both. In my work, light from windows becomes a reoccurring theme, a phenomenon where light is shaped as it enters our space. This shaped light only exists because of us and our connection to nature. My images are inspired by travel and my experiences of natural phenomena that occur at specific interior and exterior spaces. Through floating, intuitive arrangements of color and form, I attempt to create an impression of somewhere familiar, like a fleeting memory of space once visited or a place once traveled.
Thank you everyone for your support and encouragement of my process.
New paintings are now on display at the Shop Made in DC DuPont Gallery, Washington DC.

What better way to celebrate the summer season with a gathering of good friends, food, & drink? This past weekend I had the joy of creating a summer-inspired tablescape for a dinner party. I arranged wildflowers and cut stems in Morning Portal ceramic vases as a centerpiece for our summer gathering. It was a night for the books, and I would love to arrange another tablescape inspired by future seasons.
